Courtroom brawl delays sentencing in murder case
Anger boiled over inside a courtroom in Youngstown, Ohio, on Thursday when the sons of a murdered woman attacked the man being sentenced for killing her.
The family of Elizabeth Pledger Stewart was to give their victim impact statements to the court when the two men rushed Dale Williams, 62, who confessed he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in 2017.
The brothers initiated the attack as their sister began to read the statement. One of them managed to land some blows onto the handcuffed man before courtroom officers separated them.
During the brawl, one of the brothers was hit with a Taser. Both were handcuffed and taken from the courtroom.
Williams killed Pledger Stewart by ramming her car off the road and gunning her down on Market Street in Youngstown.
The sentencing for her murder was postponed until Monday morning because a bomb threat closed the courthouse.
Williams is facing a sentence of 23 years to life in prison.
