Texas murder suspect last seen at Junior’s restaurant
Manitoba RCMP are still asking for the public’s assistance in locating 28-year-old, Derek Whisenand, an American man who is wanted in Texas for Murder.
An investigation determined that Whisenand illegally crossed into Canada near Haskett, Manitoba sometime during the week of June 24. His vehicle was found in North Dakota about three kilometres from the border.
Whisenand was seen in Winkler on June 26. He was recorded on surveillance video at the Walmart with a dog in a shopping cart before entering the store alone.
Whisenand then made his way to Carman, Manitoba.
RCMP want to speak to the person or persons that may have assisted him in getting to Carman.
That afternoon Whisenand traveled from Carman to Winnipeg and was dropped off at Junior’s restaurant on St. Mary’s Road and Fermor Avenue. It was the last confirmed sighting of him.
Whisenand is described as Caucasian, 6′ tall, 250 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen with a black goatee. He has a tattoo on his left wrist of a pentagram.
He was travelling with a medium sized, mixed breed dog, possibly a mix of a German Shepard and pit bull or boxer, brindle in color.
Whisenand also has a warrant for his arrest in Canada.
Police say he may be armed and is considered dangerous, and is not to be approached.
