Winnipeg police have arrested and charged two people after a man was shot and killed outside a house in the city’s North End last month.

On October 7, at approximately 9:25 a.m., police responded to the report of a man down in a front yard of a residence in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased man.

He was identified as Darlus Dary Darrien McKay, 19.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and identified two male suspects who were known to McKay.

It is believed that the two suspects were involved in a verbal altercation with McKay, which escalated to him being shot.

Last Friday, police found one of the suspects at a residence in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue and placed him under arrest. Derek Donald Franklin, 37-years-old of Winnipeg, has been charged with manslaughter.

Sunday morning, the second suspect was located by police at a different residence in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue and he was placed under arrest. Christopher Dakota Murdock, 26-years-old of Winnipeg, has been charged with second degree murder and firearms charges.

Both were detained in custody.
