Winnipeg police are investigating the city’s 43rd homicide after a man was found lying on a sidewalk in the North End, Christmas morning.

On December 25, at approximately 10:20 a.m., general patrol officers came upon a man down on the sidewalk at the intersection of Salter Street and Redwood Avenue.

Officers determined that the man had been assaulted and initiated first aid. The victim was transported to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

He has been identified as Gordon Edward Pashe, 37.

Const. Rob Carver said police suspect gang involvement with his homicide and a standoff in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue, the same day. However, Carver couldn’t confirm if the two incidents are related.

Members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
