Winnipeg police arrest suspect in fatal shooting of man on College Avenue

Christian James Bruce, 28, of Winnipeg, was wanted for second-degree murder.

Winnipeg police have arrested a man who was wanted for a fatal shooting at a home in the city’s North End.

On Monday, March 16, at approximately 3:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a male shot at a multi-unit residence in the 500 block of College Avenue.

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital in critical condition but was pronounced deceased.

The victim was identified as Vincent Scott Ross, 24.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued to investigate and obtained a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Christian James Bruce, 28, of Winnipeg, for second-degree murder.

During the evening of March 22, Bruce was located and arrested at a residence in the St. Johns neighbourhood.

Police say they believe that both men were at the College Avenue residence when a dispute occurred and Ross was shot.

Bruce has been detained in custody.
