Man charged with second-degree murder after homicide on Maryland Street

Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the city’s 21st homicide.

According to a media release, on Monday at approximately 6:00 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Maryland Street for a report of an assault.

Responding officers located an unresponsive man with multiple injuries.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been identified as Adam Douglas Monkman, 44, of Winnipeg.

On Tuesday the Homicide Unit arrested a suspect.

Charles Wilfred Thompson, 34, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Thompson was detained in custody.
