Winnipeg police identify victim of fatal shooting on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg police have identified a man who died after a shooting in the city’s North End on Tuesday morning.

According to a media release, police responded to a report of a male shot in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue, at 8:10 a.m.. Officers located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was transported to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Owen Russell Smith, 29-years-old.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

The shooting is Winnipeg’s 26th homicide of the year.
