Winnipeg police investigating after man assaulted near Main Street underpass

A man is in hospital after being assaulted with a weapon near the Main Street underpass early Friday.

According to a media release at approximately 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a male assaulted in the area of Main Street and Higgins Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable

No arrests have been made.

This is the second serious assault that police have responded to over a two-day period in the city’s South Point Douglas neighbourhood.

A woman was found in the green space at the Northeast corner of Main Street and Higgins Avenue, suffering from severe injuries as a result of an assault early Thursday.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate both incidents.
