Winnipeg police charge man with second-degree murder in fatal shooting on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg police have charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting in the city’s North End on August 4.

According to a media release, at 8:10 a.m., police responded to a report of a male shot in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced deceased.

Police identified the victim as Owen Russell Smith, 29-years-old.

On August 28, detectives arrested Albert Sam Campeau, 38-years-old.

Campeau was charged with second-degree murder and detained in custody.
