Winnipeg police charge man with second-degree murder after stabbing on Arlington Street

Winnipeg police have charged a suspect with second-degree murder after the fatal stabbing of Pukatawagan man in the city’s West End on Monday.

On August 31, at 11:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a male who had been seriously assaulted on the 800 block of Arlington Street between Notre Dame Avenue and Wellington Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured man who had been stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police arrested a suspect in the 400 block of Maryland Street.

The deceased victim was identified as Darrell Joseph Dumas, 47, of Pukatawagan, Manitoba.

Harley Eugene Nepinak, 21, of Winnipeg, has been charged with second-degree murder and was the subject of an arrest warrant.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
