Winnipeg police charge 17-year-old with manslaughter after fatal stabbing on Kate Street

Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a suspect in the stabbing death of an 18-year-old man last month.

According to a media release, on September 23, at 9:10 p.m., a man was involved in an altercation in front of a residence in the 100 block of Kate Street with an unknown suspect. During the incident, a weapon was produced, and the victim was stabbed. He was transported to hospital in critical condition. On September 25, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased victim was identified by police as Zachary Paul Rae, 18-years-old.

On October 6, homicide unit investigators arrested a male suspect.

It is believed that the victim and suspect were both known to each other, and had been involved in an argument just prior to the fatal stabbing.

A 17-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with manslaughter, fail to comply with sentence (x2) and fail to comply with condition of release order (x3)

He was detained in custody.
