Winnipeg police investigate homicide after man dies from assault

Winnipeg police are investigating the city’s latest homicide after a man was seriously assaulted and died yesterday.

According to a media release, on December 10th, at 9:40 p.m., general patrol officers responded to the report of a male who had been assaulted in the first 100 block of Gilbert Avenue.

Officers located a man with life-threatening injuries a short distance away in the 1600 block of Burrows Avenue, where they immediately began emergency CPR.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased victim has been identified as Delaney Lee Sinclair, 20-years-old.

Police say an adult suspect has since been taken into custody, however no charges have been laid as of Friday morning.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

This is Winnipeg’s 41st homicide of 2020.

In 2019, the city had its deadliest year on record with 44 murders.
