Winnipeg police identify Furby Street homicide victim

Winnipeg police have identified a man who died after being found injured at a Furby Street home on Christmas Eve.

According to a media release, on December 24, at approximately 5:40 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of Furby Street for a report of an injured male inside a residence.

A man in his 30’s was located and transported to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced deceased.

The deceased victim has been identified as Lloyd William Chubb.

Members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate.

This is Winnipeg’s 42nd homicide of 2020.

However, earlier in the year, Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe, 27, from Steinbach, was killed within the city of Winnipeg, but his remains were found in Portage la Prairie. The RCMP investigated his death and charged four people with first-degree murder for the killing of Reimer-Wiebe.

In 2019, there were a record 44 homicides in Winnipeg.
