Arrest made, suspect charged in Winnipeg’s first homicide of 2021

Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a suspect for the city’s first homicide of the year.

On December 30, 2020, police responded to a residence located in the 1600 block of Burrows Avenue for a report of a man that had been seriously assaulted. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on January 1, 2021.

The deceased victim has been identified as Leroy Jamie Daniel Flett, 31.

Investigators identified a suspect in Flett’s murder and issued an arrest warrant. 

On January 6, members from the Major Crimes Unit charged Evan Jaye Littlejohn, 26, with manslaughter.

He remains in custody.

In 2020, Winnipeg had 43 homicides.
