Winnipeg police investigate after human remains found near Red River

The Winnipeg police homicide unit is investigating after human remains were discovered near the Red River in the city’s North End.

On Thursday, at around 6:00 p.m., police responded to Main Street and Alfred Avenue for a report that possible human remains had been found in the area.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the remains were that of a deceased person.

The age and identity of the deceased is unknown.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled.
